BepHub Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BepHub (“we”, “us”, “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the BepHub mobile and web applications and the BepHub backend service (collectively, “the Service”).

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect data that is required to operate the Service. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use personal data for cross-app or cross-website tracking.

1.1 Information you provide

Account information: username, display name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash; we never see your plaintext password after signup), optional bio, optional profile photo.
User-generated content: recipes (titles, ingredients, steps, photos), comments, replies, likes, saves, follows, and reports of objectionable content.
Communications: messages you send to support and feedback you submit in-app.

1.2 Information collected automatically

Authentication tokens: a long-lived token tied to your account, stored on your device after login.
Server logs: standard web-server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp, user agent) retained for security and abuse-prevention.
App diagnostics: crash messages and error logs strictly for fixing bugs. We do not use third-party crash-reporting SDKs.

1.3 Information collected by third-party SDKs

Google AdMob (via react-native-google-mobile-ads) is used to display banner ads on the Feed and Search screens. BepHub configures AdMob to only request non-personalized ads (requestNonPersonalizedAdsOnly: true). AdMob may still collect coarse location (derived from IP), device type, OS version, ad-interaction signals, and a non-resettable device identifier for fraud prevention and frequency-capping purposes. We do not integrate Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Mixpanel, Segment, Facebook SDK, or any other analytics or attribution SDK.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

create and maintain your account and authenticate you;
display your profile, recipes, comments, and social graph (followers, following) to you and to other users you choose to share with;
send transactional email (account activation, password reset);
enforce our Terms of Service and respond to abuse reports;
diagnose and fix bugs and improve the Service;
display advertisements (non-personalized) supplied by Google AdMob.

3. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

BepHub does not request permission under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, because we do not link data from BepHub with data about you collected by other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or ad-measurement purposes. We instruct AdMob to serve non-personalized ads only.

4. Sharing of Information

We share information only:

with Google AdMob, as described in Section 1.3, for ad delivery;
with the email-delivery provider used for transactional email (account activation, password reset);
with the cloud hosting provider that runs our backend service;
when legally required (subpoena, court order, valid law-enforcement request) or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Account data is retained while your account is active.
Inactive, never-activated accounts are deleted automatically after the activation window expires.
You can request deletion of your account and associated content at any time by contacting us at the email address below. We will delete your account, profile, recipes, comments, likes, follows, and uploaded photos within 30 days of a verified request.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.) to:

access the personal data we hold about you;
correct inaccurate data;
delete your data;
restrict or object to certain processing;
export your data in a portable format.

EEA/UK users are presented with a Google UMP (User Messaging Platform) consent dialog on first launch where ads are shown.

7. Children’s Privacy

BepHub is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We protect data in transit with TLS, store passwords as salted hashes, and restrict backend access to authorized personnel. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
